you see, i loved Hybrid Theory and all that, with the rock and punk and metal and etc., but minutes to midnight was great, too. and so was meteora. but i think so far, "Wretches and Kings" was good, but it was a little bit much. "The Catalyst" was amazing, however. how about you guys? what d'you all think?

There is change and then there is doing a complete 180 on the genre. Minutes To Midnight was a pretty big change from Hybrid Theory and Meteora but it was still pretty good. The first three Linkin Park albums got me pumped up and exited to listen to them. A Thousand Suns makes me sleepy. I'm not even sure its rock any more.

...I have to say that ppl that posted replies on this forum and wrote how crapy this album is are just a bunch of forum trolls , and immature ppl that just want to be in center of attention and make rude comments about LP, I liked everything that Linkin Park published since the beggining and I think this is a rock group that can be found only 1 in million, Thousand Suns is an awesome album , they did put in some new sounds and things but that's just what makes it more intresting and that is what proper musical master minds can do and will do...But some ppl are just can't accept a little change and can't addopt and actually they would like if they could have same songs like in old albums with just few changes , but I say time changes so does the music, I think u did a great job with this album and put a lot of sweat and blood into it , just to be sweared at on your own forums... unbelivable , and I have to say that ppl that wrote bad things don't have any respect first for them selfs and then for you LP.... ROCK ON LP!!!
Has anyone here been to a rock concert and had a band play a slow song? Everyone pulls out a lighter and waves them in the air during that song. If Linkin Park played this album all the way through in concert there would be a lot of dead lighters because you would have to keep them going the entire concert. Thats how slow this album is. It's a "lighter in the air" album.
I'm getting really tired of hearing people complaining that the new CD's (Minutes to Midnight and A Thousand Suns) suck or are just aweful. Yes, they are different than Hybrid Theory and Meteora. But can you honestly expect a band to play the exact same thing forever and people not get tired of it? If you do then you are in some weird state of denial. Meteora is my favorite Linkin Park album and one of my favorites of all time. Minutes to Midnight was a step away from their 'old sound', and even though it isn't my favorite I do like it alot. The same applies to a Thousand Suns. It's a step further away from their 'old sound' and into something new. Is it my favorite? No. Do I like it? Very much.

What you people really need to complain about is how the music industry that has you in the mindset that the bands and musicians play what YOU want to hear. In my opinion that isn't the way it should work. One of the biggest reasons I like Minutes to Midnight and A Thousand Suns is that Linkin Park is playing what Linkin Park wants to play. If Linkin Park wanted to grab a bunch of fiddles & banjos and make music that way then power to them (I'd pass on that album, but I'd respect the fact that they are making the music they want to make). If Linkin Park wanted to play in the style of Hybrid Theory and Meteora again and again and again then they would have. But I'd be willing to bet that they have realized the simple fact that times change and they have matured (not to say they were immature in the first place) in their musicl styles are willing and open to experiment to create new radical music which is what they've alway been about. When Hybrid Theory came out who in the hell really thought that putting rap, rock, metal, thrash punk, and DJ'ing would have ever worked. Yet Linkin Park proved it could work and they changed it up a little for Meteora. And they are still doing the same today. Quit bitching people. If you like the band then you'll respect them.
Whatever your opinion is of this album..
It sure as hell isn't some boring album that no one ever talks about ;)
So if someone has an opinion differing from yours, they're a troll? Someone who is immature and wants to be the center of attention? How does that even make sense? Alot of LP fans don't like this album. They switched genres. You sound like a sheep; sadly I was one up until I listened to this album. I bought it the first day it was available only having heard The Catalyst. It was a mistake on my part, I will no longer blindly buy LP until I hear most of the album.

To all of those people who say "well they couldn't make the same music forever, it would get boring", LP changed too much too fast. A good example of a band that waded into the water slowly, and successfully, is green day. They don't sound anything like they used to, but they slowly changed and gave their fans a chance to change with them. The first band that comes to mind that managed to pull off a huge change was the Beatles, but everyone was using psychedelic drugs, so they don't really count. Their fans were too stoned to even notice anything. The fact of the matter is most bands don't radically change their sound and they still have long successful careers.

if I still love every song from every album, "LP", because I like the flow of his music, his personnel, the name of his band, his songs, his vocals sound, and all of LINKINPARK: *
I love so much ~ ~
I never said change was bad. In fact change can be good to keep things new and interesting. Its the extent and direction of the changes that makes the difference. Meteora was different than Hybrid Theory. Minutes To Midnight was a lot different than either of the first 2 albums. These changes worked out well and keep true to the rock genre. One of my favorite bands, Disturbed, has changed A LOT since their first album. More mature instrumentals and vocals. More solos. But all changes for the good and the whole time keeping true to the genre that got them millions of fans. The problem with A Thousand Suns is that Linkin Park did a complete 180 on the genre of music they played that. The completely abandoned the type of music they played that made there first 2 albums such a success. Like me, old school Linkin Park fans liked them because they were hard rock and A Thousand Suns is far from hard rock or any kind of rock for that matter. If Linkin Park wants to play this kind of music now fine but me and many other old school fans won't be listening to it. Linkin Park is now playing an entirely different kind of music. It would be like Ozzy playing jazz or country. The entire album is a "lighter in the air" album which is a complete 180 from an album like Hybrid Theory. It's so much of a change in the complete opposite direction they might as well change their name. With the exception of Chester's voice being noticeable they don't resemble Linkin Park in any way. So, for being a Linkin Park album and being rock....it totally fails. I listened to it because it was a "Linkin Park" album and I, like many others, was extremely disappointed.
ITS ALL UNIQUE! you just have to appreciate the little things. new style.
it aint old LP but it works!

BLACKOUT (good ending)
I liked some of the songs...
But I thoud that it was kinda strange.
It was very much talking and stuff, and if I heared the rap, I almost not heard Mike.

But I liked it somewhere...
And I appriciate (sorry if I don't write it so good I am Hollands) that LP trys new sounds for us but there is one thing i don't understand... For the guitarist (lead) is it really boring I think, because you almost hear no guitar on the new album...

I think that a album like this is fun 4 1 time, but not if they make a album just like this (like HT and Meteora they're allmost the same) I think they must get back to metal a little bit again... otherwize they're gonna lose so much fans... I wil allways be a fan, the comercial hip-hop and top 40 fans they can't win because the comercial hip-hop/top 40 fans have in ther heads: "I HATE LP, I HATE LP, I HATE LP" and I think : "HOW THE F*CK CAN YOU HATE LP!

I can't hate them I don't know why...

I love LP, and I always love LP, even after a strange album (what after 2 times listen much better is)!

THANK YOU LP!

See yah
Oh yea you can totally hear LP still.... If you play one of their old albums/demos but otherwise this album is the worst thing that they have ever produced.
It is a great album that mostly MUSIC lovers would appreciate.
Just hear the message of the song "When they come for me" that's it.

I am not / a pattern to be followed
The pill that I'm on is a tough one to swallow
I'm not a criminal / not a role model
Not a born leader I'm a tough act to follow
I am not / the fortune and the fame
Nor the same person telling you to forfeit the game
I came in the ring like a dog on a chain
And I found out the underbelly's sicker than it seems
And it seems ugly / but it can get worse
'Cause even a blueprint is a gift and a curse
'Cause once you got a theory of how the thing works
Everybody wants the next thing to be just like the first
And I'm not a robot
I'm not a monkey
I will not dance even if the beat's funky
Opposite of lazy / far from a punk
Ya'll ought to stop talking start trying to catch up motherfucker
And all the people say

Lauryn said money change a situation
Big said it increase the complication
Kane said don't step / I ain't the one
Chuck said that uzi weigh a motherfuckin' ton
And I'm just a student of the game that they taught me
Rockin' every stage in every place that it brought me
I'm awfully underrated / but came here to correct it
And so it ain't mistaken I'ma state it for the record /
I am / the opposite of wack / opposite of weak
Opposite of slack / synonym of heat
Synonym of crack / closest to a peak
Far from a punk
Ya'll ought to stop talking / start trying to catch up motherfucker
And all the people say

Oh / When they come for me
Come for me
I'll be gone

Think again.

Godbless us everyone.

Wishing for more good album to come from you guys.
