It tells a sad truth about the way some people act towards others,too wrapped up in their own popularity and reputations.They single out someone because they are different.It's destructive to make someone feel so isolated.
There are nasty people but there is also people that care.

So I kind of got a taste of both sides, and i can tell you it doesn't feel good on either side. On the popularity side you have a hollow feeling inside and you are never satisfied. But on the singled out side life is just miserable. So I think that people should just "remember all the sadness and fustration [in life], and let it go." Maybe that is what numb is about, where the connections between people have all "become so numb" because of that reason. So instead of following tradition, we should "be more like me, and be less like you."
