Hi there. just like you all, i'm a die hard linkin park fan! however, seeing their new music video, Iridescent, some thoughts came to my mind.
there's this snake, pyramids, horns on Mike Shinodas shoulder, sitting on a throne made out of antlers (making him look like the king of all demons) and being in the middle on the "last supper" scene, where Jesus was supposed to be sitting at.
this music video made my religious (best) friends fuss about and think that linkin park worships the devils, demons, etc...
please tell me reasons why the things above are wrong :(
thanks :D

I guess I would prefer a maybe anime-type vid? One idea would be to have a person climbing up a large slope of scree at beginning and the scree continually crumbling away, making it hard for the person to keep from plunging too far down, and volcanic eruption and ash all around, the person covered in dust, keeping on trying to get a view of what's ahead, trying to see if there is a place of safety on the other side of their hill (and zoom out scene to show some grassy plains and forests and rivers, etc, and wildlife over other side and in the distance, and blue mountains far off... that the person can't see), then zoomed in scenes of the person's emotions (tears, frustration, despair) and clawing arms etc during chorus, then at end of song, the person finds resolve to not give up, not let the crumbling slope get the better of them, and you see that determination in their face, and peace come into it because they know the way forward, they know they're just gonna keep going and they believe they can probably make it, and their valiant extra effort is rewarded and they reach the top and see the mountains in the distance and the grassy plains and the animals and birds and trees and all and realise all their effort was worth it and there is hope for them now.
That would be the sort of inspiring video I would have liked to accompany Iridescent - I hope they do an alternate video some time which I could love as much as the song. I do think the vid was very well done, technically though - kudos to them for doing such a great job on it, even though it did not get across the meaning I felt from the song.

Or maybe the Iridescent video is portraying people's belief in the 21st century, believing in demons and such instead of the good side (God, Gods and Goddesses, Holy Spirits, Angels, Nirvana, etc), and then they say to "Let It Go", meaning letting go of our demon/devil beliefs? Hmm
Aaralyn: Haha yes! Disturbing! Your idea is great actually. I hope some of the members see this. I hope so...

Permalink Reply by Aaralyn D on August 28, 2011 at 2:59am I guess regarding the Last Supper scene, I wondered if they were pointing to the fact that some religious people do some quite evil things within their religion (hence the snake on the table and the whited-out eyes) - that is certainly my experience and many of my friends' experiences also, so I wondered if that was the reason for that particular scene? It would make sense to me.
But I also thought, they could also be saying that some people feel lost in their religion and feel like they fail to live up to it again and again and/or perhaps sometimes don't really understand some of the things their religions tell them they must live like and believe etc, and to let that sadness and frustration go? But I don't know what they were really trying to say with that vid. Oh well, maybe they will enlighten us sometime - I'd like that. :-)
