Not many band like them. Whatever they old or new, the sound, the lyrics, still unique.GREAT.only linkin park. What I feel when hear the old song like meeting with some old friend. And old friend is always the BEST
Permalink Reply by Taylor Parrish on May 5, 2011 at 5:33pm I like the new LP just the slightest bit better :) I think that although the older stuff is catchy with infectious rythyms and lyrics, the newer stuff just seems more personal and in depth. If you just listen to songs like 'Iridescent', you'll understand what I'm trying to say :) But another great thing about them is that those songs don't completely dominate the album. I mean, just look at Wretches and Kings or When They Come For Me. The album has something for everyone, and that's why Linkin Park appeals to me :)

i think both their old and their new music styles are just as good. however the lyrics are different, its like theres a message. sometimes they use a different language to get that message across (they used Japanese in Jornada Del Muerto). sometimes the songs dont even have lyrics (Empty Spaces) but that message is still there, stronger than before. listen to the whole album of A Thousand Suns. the album is also a message in itself. so if i had to choose i would choose the new LP. but that is just what i think.:)

Permalink Reply by Taylor Parrish on May 7, 2011 at 12:49pm I think my favorite thing about their new album is that it is the least autotuned. You can tell by the way they sing (If you have evr seen them before live by some means) the songs of 'A Thousand Suns' that they sound almost 100% like they do on the album!!! I mean, of course a few adaptations will have to be made for performing for a live audience, but from what I can tell there is basiclly no difference. However, I do like their older stuff as well. My only concern: does anyone other than me think that the way Mike raps on the first two albums makes him sound like Jamaican/some kind of foreign?? I mean I know he's half Japanese, but that's not relevant to how he sounds...???

I feel like the only person on earth who likes their new stuff a lot more than their older stuff. I only just recently came across their new album on youtube by chance, and haven't listened to them since I was a teen. I really liked them when I was a teenager because of the angst in their music and I related to it so much. I changed a lot since I was fifteen though, as I imagine most of us do. I would not be into Linkin Park right now if Hybrid Theory came out today. But I feel like their sound has expanded and become more alternative (I see a lot of comments saying they have become mainstream with this album! As if Meteora wasn't mainstream? I really can't relate to the youth today!) I feel like I have processed and their old sound and no longer have a use for it/have outgrown it. But I relate to their new stuff ten years later completely fresh. I also think where they are a very produced sound (some would say over-produced) the fact that they have polished that produced sound into a much more complex and current cinematic feel really justifies the highly produced sound. It's not overproduced now, I find it really carved out and far more interesting now than it had been before. I feel LP is a band who is really adaptive to changing sounds and bringing in a broader range of outside influences. But they are clearly far more experienced with this album than their first couple. I am sure I have a much different taste in music than the average LP fan though, so I realize my opinions are not very standard or whatever.

Permalink Reply by Rasmus Mollan Høgmo on May 8, 2011 at 12:43pm I love everything! I get so fucking angry when I see someone writing we want the old LP back. There is no old or new LP. It's Linkin Park! They have shown that they can do anything with the music and they follow their hearts! I respect that!
Linkin Park for life!
Permalink Reply by Valya Andreeva on May 8, 2011 at 5:32pm Old or new? Does it even matter? Their voices didn't change. Their skills didn't change. They are who they were.
I love the songs "Papercut","Numb", "Faint", but I also love "The Catalyst", "Bleed It Out", "Waiting For The End". The last one is even as my phone ringtone. :)
Permalink Reply by Taylor Parrish on May 9, 2011 at 5:22pm They are just one of those amazing bands that can adapt to newer times. They make their music what THEY want, not what everyone else wants them to make. I think Mike Shinoda makes it clear that LP is independent in the song "When They Come For Me" especially. And I think he puts it best how some people feel about the 'new' LP (To quote some of the lyrics):
"Cuz once you've got a theory of how the things works
Everybody wants the next thing to be just like the first."

Permalink Reply by Taylor Parrish on May 9, 2011 at 5:25pm I actually began to like Linkin Park because at the time i first heard them, they were my preferred rock sound. Me, liking rock music then and still. Although their new sound is very enchanting, I'll always be a "rock freak" at heart... So i say *OLD*
