I appreciate the praise in Linkin Park's lyrics. They have evolved in song writing and they have been very careful of their lyrics ever since. The problem in this album is not the lyrics but the way they incorporated a more "computer generated" music which diluted the raw, classic and rhythmic sounds of the basic instruments. I didnt bother to listen to their album again after I heard Numb, Breaking the Habit, Papercut, Points of Authority and Leave out all the Rest. For me, their current sound is like pop stars singing on auto-tune, which really is not natural sounding. Listening to ATS is like eating a synthetic porkchops made from pork flavoured flour.
I respect their lyrical abilities here, I say again, the lyrics are quite good, if not, superb. Excellent writing went bad with their "new" sound. It felt like listening to an 80's video game soundtrack (reminds me of B-Wings and Twin Bee). Suffice to say, it really is a pity that they've made efforts into writing good lyrics but forget to create a good chemistry with their instruments. Sometimes, just being basic sounding backed up by good lyrics is the best idea.
