Empty Bottle, Forgotten Time...

A Poem by Michael Huskey...

Sad world, unlike soft blowing wind on a hot Summer's day,
outside,
a peaceful relief for children who play.
Sad world what have we done?
Forsaken the only one,
Mother who loves us so,
 beaten and broken by our hands,
her plenty stripped,
Her shadow faint upon the emptiness of space...
a memory  that grows dim.
We have raped her like savages
warring again and again.
Our kin like sheep led to slaughter,
The thunder warns us
yet we slip farther
away from the beauty, away from the peace....
like children without a guide
and we try to lead one another...

Her love
like a candle lit
she hid her face
from the shadow of it..
giving herself to the madness
of them.
I tried to weep
many times...
the empty nights and lonely days..
I couldn't get over her..
with my heart
my thoughts of her played...
A kiss so soft and love filled...
yet she is gone...
I weep without tears..
this is my only way..
my heart is cold,
years of heartache..
unable to trust...
unable to give myself away...

A piece of time
in all that I see...
whispers screaming out to me...
of visions and dreams...
they are continiously haunting me..
drowning in this madness...
caught in the undertow...
of raging waters
that refuse to let me go...
The agony...the voices...
far away from reality...
They scream, kick, and hit
at me...you're the one...
the one of what?
A tragedy....
a name you only know...
a wretch beneath it all...
a beast...not even worth considering human...

btw, that is a piece I did from a reference photo I found off the web. It is black india ink and red acrylic. The Beast and the Rose.
