Since I haven't found one of these yet I figured I'll make a poetry thread, where we could either share poetry/lyrics or discuss favorite poets or lyricists. To start off the thread I'll post one of my own pieces. Hope to see what everyone else's work and maybe learn about some other poets. Criticism is appreciated but lets be nice to each other about it :)

I'll share with you my heart
a desire unafraid
hushed with lullabys and older dreams
we're always in the same place

life/the key to living
love/the key to loving
I desire none but myself

and so I'll weep to you
dear reader and lost friend
that my heart holds
the stories of anger and hate
mistrust and my own shame
love and lost love
misplacement and sadness

I can't tell you why
these feelings of mine
are so down
cos you see
I only share with you my heart

sob stories are for the weak
and I can show no weakness
I already have too much
for the simple things I'll never have
in toy cars and choo choo trains

I share with you my heart
and lullabys that never rock me to sleep

I share with you my heart
cos it's all I really have left to give

A Song for Alex
(And Then I Dream)

Peace
Never on my mind as much as sorrow
As much as pain
I have so much to gain
Life
Never on my mind as much as anger
As much as tears
I have so many fears

It's alone with this I walk for miles
Whisper in the night
I'm as much a part of this as never could be right
And then I dream

Right
Never not a wish of mine as much
As much as loss
And this, a line to cross
Me
Never in the past as much as darkness
As much as death
I draw a single breath

It's alone with this I walk forever
Touching no one's hand
I'm as much a part of this as castles in the sand
And then I dream

Sorry if that was too many at once. I just felt like sharing.

hay nice u finaly got the forum up
Wow I've missed a lot in the last couple days.
@JJ: No worries it's nice to see how productive you really are, I haven't had a chance to check out all your pieces but I have to say not too bad and A Song for Alex is a good one, I'll go back and read through the rest of your work. Keep it up! :)

@Harriet: Your last piece was magnificent, it was timeless and beautiful. I think you've got to be the best poet among us.
Thanks, man. That's really cool. :-) It's like having a nice cozy candlelit room for everyone to share in. I think that's just pro.

To JJ Christopher, I've never read that much poetry before in one sitting! But it was well worth it, my favorites were A Song for Alex and Claustrophobia. Were those all current pieces?

To Ghost-Child550, thanks a whole lot. I would only dream of someone to feel that way about my writing. You're definitely a superb poet, I enjoy reading all your pieces, especially Star Crossed :)

Hi Harriet, Thx for the kind words, although Claustrophobia wasn't mine. I was a nice piece, tho, so I wish it was. As far as current? Eh, poetry is lifetime process, so in that respect they're all current. :-) You're very talented. I look forward to sharing with you and everyone. This is a great medium.

@JJ I just got through the rest of your work, I especially took a liking to The Fire well done. And no need to thank me, I thank you for sharing some of your work in this little thread. I appreciate it and hope to see more of your work in the future. And I do agree with what you said about it being like a cozy candle lit room :)

@Harriet I don't think you need to dream about that, if you try and get your work out there and publish it I'm sure many people will read and feel about your poetry in the same way that I do. Thank you for the compliments :) I appreciate them.

@Michelle: I definitely loved Pretending. It was a wonderful piece and I especially loved the line 'watching diamonds, dancing on the sea.' Great work :)
Michelle, your poems are always wonderful and well written. I love the imagery.

UNTITLED from "EMBED"
as hard as i try,
i can't reassure myself the way you can;
i'm still so afraid that i might hurt you,

even as everything is falling apart,
i'm still afraid that i might make i worse.

i just don't feel like this is enough,

i can't bring myself to believe
that we could ever be enough.

UNTITLED from "EMBED"
i said i'd keep myself under control for you
but i think
i'm seriously starting to lose grip of things;
i don't want to drift away,
i want to stay right here,
right beside you ...
but i guess i'll only disappoint you now.

UNTITLED from "EMBED", PART 2: "AFTERMATH"
it was her, i'm pretty sure,
who assured me over and over again
that everything was okay,
always told me i worried too much;
i instinctively worry about some things,
i definitely worried about her.

she always told me that,
someday, i would make it somewhere.
even when i told her i was so sure
i'd never get anywhere in life,
i'll be stuck where i am forever,

told her,
i'm such a fucking loser

and i don't deserve ...

don't deserve friends like you ...
