Missed a lot since I was last here.

Jaime your most recent piece was very good, a nice step up I really liked it. Well done.

Michelle I'd have to say Only Intrigued was the better of between that and Immortal Touch. The latter was good but something about Only Intrigued really glued me in. Again as expected great work.

Harriet Colburn Park was nice and short. Very well written :)

Sluggish it's cool to know you're getting inspiration from the work here, I'm sure it definately makes us all feel really great. Lies was very nice as well :) hope to see further stuff.

'round the world

With rocket ship dreams so high the sanity sings a chorus to me chanted in high noon sorrow
I fell for the sound of question
No need for the pity of closure and stagnant endings I'll be fine to pray again
With a flowers birth the rise and the fall of trial and error will tell me I've let this all fall deep
within my lovers hands

But who's to say the world is unborn without the sound of love?
Glass and flame sells sand to those without a rail of hope but I'm still here
Singing songs as old as time herself
and God brings me nothing but the question of morning rain and mildew drops on grass blades
circling 'round the world of the ants
Sending them packing back home for open floodgates
The brave were never meant to survive

And the lover of lovers is naught without the feeling of guilty conscience
holding hands with the only person, he ever saw in eyes without the sound of sexual gratification
but who's he to talk about the unfaithful?

We hold the world in our own hands and fail to remember
it's only our lives we control everything else is out of reach
And the romantics recite forgotten poetry to impress but the sound of smacking lips on blue is
as lost as the sound of truth
Forgotten in a time older than the age of regret
I'll take in ruby kisses and exhale rose oil from the shamed trees we've all misplaced

We'll all remain lost in the dunes of deserts grace
sleeping in on afternoon breakfast and flailing ever so slightly thru land changing storms
Let it all sleep away lovers and friends there's no changing anything

Ghost...beautiful work. I think my favorite line of the poem is this "Glass and flame sells sand to those without a rail of hope but I'm still here" and this"And the lover of lovers is naught without the feeling of guilty conscience" as a whole I really enjoyed it as well I just picked some lines that really stood out to me.

Comfort in Knowing

Do they deny me
yet still
as I yet would be foolish
enough to try
to be forgotten
to wither away
as a flower in the sun

From the skies
the storms speak to me
I watch as they ravage
and rampage time

Time like an endless
sea of dust
seeking comfort in
knowing
the essence of myself
remains the same.

Thank you for the compliment :) it's really nice to know a few lines in the poem stood out.
Comfort in Knowing was a really nice one I especially like the last stanza. It all flows very nicely and I can relate to it very nicely. Bravo

I love watching this thread grow. All the powerful words and talent continue to amaze me. Thanks for making this thread, Ghost Child. Your words and Michelle's, et al, are refreshing.


In The Field

Hear those long forgotten voices, laughing echoes in the wind
And it's hard not to remember
And it's yours not to have sinned
Hear it all from almost nowhere, as you stand within the field
And you experience the sunrise
As the wounds are finally healed

Picture long forgotten memories, fading shadows in your mind
Hold them tight as they surrender
Leaving emptiness behind
Rising deep within your spirit flies the dove without restrain
And you're floating sad, yet drifting,
On an ocean without pain

What was yours without a question now is lost, forever blind
But if you try hard and retrieve it
There is nothing you can't find
And in the field you lay staring, in the grass long overgrown
And you want so much to follow,
Wishing wings to where they've flown

Heart to mind the stars are shining, and the sky's so blue and cold
While the wind silently whispers
All the stories never told
Your one love it seems forever, always there but you can't see
And it seems to want to comfort
Everything that's come to be

Late at night, then early morning, you have slept within the field
All your sorrow now has broken
All the doors have now been sealed
And you touch the world around you with your mind and with your soul
For the first time in your lifetime
You feel so much more than whole

Silent tears of sadness falling, tears for Tony and for May
And you feel them in your memory
And you live for them each day
It's despair but not self-pity, all alone you face today
So much stronger now than ever
With a lifetime left to play

As a child in the field, you played ball with all your friends
And you knew, because of memory
That those days could never end
Then you walk away in silence, but behind you very near
Though the field now is empty
There are souls still playing here

I really enjoyed this part

Nicely done...the rest of the poem good as well ..that was just my favorite part

Sketching a Daydream


As I am now
lost to a thought
becoming more aware,
my surroundings
I find
more and more
bewildering
crossing the line
of real and fantasy

Ink tracing
outlines
within my mind
flowing out
gently in waves
sketching a daydream
like a sliver of a star

JJ: It is indeed wonderful to see the thread growing and to see the new poetry we each post here as it all just gets better and better :) In the Field was definately wonderful, the rhyme scheme worked and it had a great rhythm to it. Well done :)

Michelle: Sketching a daydream was great, well written and just well awesome.


The Samaratin Man

In memory and violence, ice-sickle clichés mix memory for the wearers of facial masks
Men who’ve born too little of the watchers in the sky
The women who prey on slander morals and broken homes, but they’ll be here to stay
Stricken sodden bottom of the ocean forgetting the newest relevance
A world so clean
But the marry go ‘round screams and who’s this?
A note wearer holding pamphlets with jackets and ties soaked up in Vaseline
Crying around ear folds ten times too deep
Saving teeth for someone else who needs them a samaratin as they call him
But the circles around his eyes says he’s lost all account of sleep
‘Sailors come all to the vast borders of ocean, for we've trod the dirt of shallow land’
That’s what he tells us all
And I try to find the borders of ocean to join him on his voyage
Yet the water is all gone
He smiles to me with all his missing teeth
‘Son you’re only holding yourself back.’

Thank you very much; that was the line that inspired the poem :) I just kind of wrote that and thought it needed to be worked into a poem somehow rather than just stand alone.
