Ah.. an appropriate place, at last, my search was not fruitless..

They say your own perception is your own reality
It took so long for me to try to figure it out
And even then, it's like
You live in your own world, and only you can understand it
That no one else will ever really know you
Well, I can't believe it, no, I won't believe it

I am human, and I have empathy for you, for me..
And I still see the good in others, I hope
for nothing more than a smile on everyone's face
Just remember, when they're putting you down
And they've got no smile for ya
Someday they'll be in your place,
and they won't see ya frown

Dad's always told you, "Don't worry, you get by somehow"
And your mother said, "Just love everyone"
Another one, you will always remember
Your best friend, across on the hospital bed
"Please remember everything I say,
Now that I think I'm passing away,
I'm lookin' back on my life and I got some regrets
Tell Jenny 'I'm sorry',
tell my mother 'I love her',
and tell my father 'I missed him'."
And, for you, my friend,
It was a fantastic ride all the way to the end"

I am human, and I have empathy for you, for me...
And I still see the good in others, I hope
for nothing more than your heart's content
Just remember, when they're pushing you down
And they've got no feeling for ya
Someday, it'll be in your conscience,
(How you felt) and they won't see you frown

Everything has a consequence,
Every beginning has an end
But we choose, how it is
and what we do, there is no sickness
Never let anyone tell you otherwise
And when you learn to do it for you
That's when you'll see

We are human, and we have empathy for for everyone, for everything..
And we still see the good in ourselves, we hope
for nothing more than a smile on everyone's face
Just remember, you can't put yourself down
When you know the truth, just believe..
We are all the same

@Michelle: Your two most recent poems were great I especially love Havoc the last stanza is very nice. Excellent work.

@Wayne: That poem to your little boy was very nice. Great stuff, it's nice to see some poetry with a brighter side than what most of us here have posted. Oh and welcome to the thread we're happy to have you.

@Bobby: Also welcome to the thread :) a very nice poem indeed. Great meaning behind it as well. Hope to see some more work in the future :)

@Caroline: Welcome to the thread as well :) I enjoyed your little memoir. Feel free to post anything here; perhaps short stories poetry what have you. You have major writing talents, I don't know if you've written any types of short stories or anything but I'd recommend it, I'd definately like to see some story work :)

Batteries & Wine

I charge battery packs and a widow to pay
More than once was I wrong
With slumbering shadows
And milk and honey in the wine

A dinner for two a dinner for me
The restless abandon serves platters empty
Far removed of pen records
Each stroke and trace so far behind
And the bear smiles his heart away

We’ve paid too much to trace steps
The memory is bleached
And I forget everything and spin the tale anew
The power of lie can turn to truth
If only just for you


And for anyone interested I should be publishing a novella and another book of poetry soon.

Another fairly random, spontaneous piece.. but it feels.. rather incomplete, somehow. Btw.. my stuff is more musical than poetic.. I sing it. Imagine a cross between The Used (Ex: I Caught Fire [In Your Eyes]), and Linkin Park (Ex: By Myself).. throw in some influence from bands like Puddle of Mudd and Drowning Pool.. yeah.. anyway, read on.

When I was a young boy, the world was so simple
Drag racin' down Memorial, makin' memories
Hollerin' jokes to the peoples, smilin' at the haters
Streetlights flashing by, red lights, green lights
It was something like a dream, and it felt so right
The feeling of going 90 in a 35
Runnin' from the red and blue dome lights
Gettin' back to the house at 6 am
Havin' gone down every dirt road
From here to Talequah, yeah, baby,
Yeahh, I'm starting to forget.. everything
except the smell of you on my pillows

I tried calling again, you hung up the phone
When you realized I was drunk, I had the TV on
A girl laughing in the background, but it was you
Remember that video we shot last June?
I think your number's been changed, damn
How I wish I had seen it through
The mistakes you make in life, you never realized
It was another missed take

I remember, that summer, when you followed me around
You said that I was something absolutely amazing
and I was too much of a fool.. to slow it down
I thought I was so cool, chasin' down every sunset
Seein' just how long we could stay in beauty's rays
We never quite made it, to California, but Michigan,
Yeah that was a blast, crown royal and the drunken bride and groom
stumbling past our door
A giant bed, a $160 hotel room,
just you and me..

I tried calling you again, 'cos I can't seem to forget
the trip we had on the way back, I was so mad..
and I don't even know why, I don't remember,
just the way you kissed me and made me better
Nothing, could take the smile off my face
Except that bitter embrace as you walked away

I'm dyin' from another missed take..
Lost love is the worst glory
But I'd rather have felt it
Than never at all
When will I show myself, truly
I will never know 'til it happens
Stop hiding behind the walls
And show yourself, Sweetness

hum... here's an attempt at finishing the last piece, I feel I could write of it endlessly, but here goes:

I stopped calling, it seemed you had let go,
But I sent one last letter, just to let you know
I am still and will always be yours, madly forever
in love, of course, forever, and ever, just let me go
just know this, I'll always love you, more than anyone
More than forever, it has no bounds
and I'll be waiting 'til I'm old and grey, to see those beautiful eyes
up so close, and so vivid, always a delighted surprise

I awoke one morning to a piece of mail, the return address
said nothing but, "Sweetness"
My heart was in my throat, terrified of what you might have wrote
All I wished for, twice every day, at 3:33, was a letter from you to me
with words of love, either break me or make me, don't leave me hangin'
And now I'm travelin' to you, 800 miles don't seem like a thing,
Goin' 90 all the way, no matter the speed limit, red and blue domes..
forget them too, I've got a destination, and I'm gona see it through

I pulled in, about 6 am.. all the lights were off, but to your window I went
2 knocks, a lapse, another knock, and then your face.. I'd been waiting
to witness your grace, beautiful, ruby red hair, and sapphire eyes
You're my goddess, I'm your sacrifice, and that's the way it'll be
'til the end of time, and I'm crawling through your window,
falling across the bed, deja vu, and into your room again
800 miles, it's forgotten, as I hold you in my arms
Forever, you'll be safe, with me you will see no harm

My long absence taught me a very valuable lesson as a poet; never wait for inspiration to strike. I literally didn't write for months, because I didn't know what to write about. I was very narrow-minded towards poetry and what all it could be. I threw away and scratched out ideas and stanzas that I thought sucked. So today, I just sat on my bed and pressured myself to write. I don't know how, but through my bland state of mind, something clicked, and I just started to get it.

I guess it's because after I graduated from high school and started working, I became detached from art. I now have to reconstruct and learn to become a better writer!

Forgiven

I had a dream
That crows sing
And as fact
I locked myself in the room of
Antenna and encrusted wing

The antenna made toothpick fond
Wing an abortion toy
As fact
I was locked in the room of
Nothingness, to willingly destroy

I had a dream
My Dad beside me
And as fact
He knocked, went in
Said to me, "We can again see."
