Since I haven't found one of these yet I figured I'll make a poetry thread, where we could either share poetry/lyrics or discuss favorite poets or lyricists. To start off the thread I'll post one of my own pieces. Hope to see what everyone else's work and maybe learn about some other poets. Criticism is appreciated but lets be nice to each other about it :)

I'll share with you my heart
a desire unafraid
hushed with lullabys and older dreams
we're always in the same place

life/the key to living
love/the key to loving
I desire none but myself

and so I'll weep to you
dear reader and lost friend
that my heart holds
the stories of anger and hate
mistrust and my own shame
love and lost love
misplacement and sadness

I can't tell you why
these feelings of mine
are so down
cos you see
I only share with you my heart

sob stories are for the weak
and I can show no weakness
I already have too much
for the simple things I'll never have
in toy cars and choo choo trains

I share with you my heart
and lullabys that never rock me to sleep

I share with you my heart
cos it's all I really have left to give

I think it's dark.
here's one I wrote

A soldier's Dream

seeing the unseen

following footsteps

screaming silent screams

while whispering under a tree

position yourself

you are a statue

silently watching

waiting

seconds of minutes

awaiting

littered with tears

no longer yours

bring home

no remains

not today

Here's a poem:

"Silence No More"

I am no longer haunted by my thoughts so morbid and suicidal
I am not afraid of my voices anymore - I'm mental
So what if I am a Bisexual Goth?
So what if I am able to embrace death?
I am not afraid of the dark side of my human soul
I am not afraid to fight the world so cold
Bring on the haters, bring on my fears
I will no longer cry suicidal tears
FUCK IT - BREAK ME IF YOU CAN!
THIS IS SOMETHING YOU WILL NEVER COMPREHEND!
I AM ALIVE!
SILENCE NO MORE AS I FINALLY BREAK WITH HONESTY AND SURVIVE!!!!

This is my silence no more.

(Fin.)

tell me what u think.
@Draven: your poems are pretty well written but they seem a little angsty, which adds a small tinge of immaturity to them. It's nice to express your feelings but try a little differently, as of right now they seem like poems from a basic angry goth teenager. Keep at it though, I see talent blooming.

@Michelle: Soldier's Dream was nice. Your work never ceases to impress.

Walking

lay me down
at the front of the world
find the wrong and right
don't wake the sleeping children
they'll never forgive
their parents
so sit still when you speak

you never told me
that twenty years
and forty days
was less the price
of war
and I speak
of our resolve
but find there's nothing left

carry me down
the final doorstep
of the singular voices
calling out for wrong and right
the children are now awake
their parents long dead
I told you to sit still

I'll be off to another world
with my sleep and tears
flowing down the rivers edge
call to me later
when I feel alright
My favorite poem is called "One Dark Day In The Middle of The Night"

One dark day in the middle of the night,
Two dead boys got up to fight,
Back to back they faced each other,
Drew their swords and shot each other,
A deaf policeman heard the noise,
Came and shot the two dead boys,
If you don't believe this lie is true,
Ask the blind man he saw it too!

I don't know who wrote it. I looked online and found many variation of it but this is the one I remember. It is the only poem I know by heart. :)
That's a pretty decent poem. I'm not a big fan of poems with the basic writing and rhyme scheme like that but it's pretty good. Too bad you don't know who wrote it, I'd like to see what other work this poet has.

thanks for your advice and i'm 21 by the way... anyway, i will work more on my skills and i am glad you found potiental talent in my works... i'm actually writing a few books on my spare time: one about the LGBT youth community, one about my lifestyle as a bisexual female submissive in the BDSM scene (i'm turning female this year) and one that has poetry collections of mine and another one full of short stories.... check them out under the name I'm gonna be using for my female life, Amy Serenity Lovecraft... bye. Will be posting more poetry later.
I agree with what Ghost child said about your poetry. There is a lot more potential there.

Sorry if you thought I was judging your age (I was just pointing out the style of your poetry and what I gathered from it) If you step a little outside your comfort zone it should help nicely with your work. Like I said there's potential in the work so in time when your style has matured and grown it could be very good stuff. I'll check out those writings and thanks for sharing :) hope to see more of you here in the near future.

The blizard of my thoughts
makes chaos into my mind
no future and no roots,
it's like I'm walkin'blind
The only things I hear
are the echoes of my fear
the absurd scarying beat
makes noise into my deep.
I'd like t scream, not hide
the pain I feel inside
forbidden conscious nightmares
which seem to call from darkness
I'd like to understand
why am I goin'so mad,
Dunnow where is my place
if darkness I can face.
I Am
(The Feelings in This)

I am
The scream of the jealous moon
The lie of the plastic thunder
Death
Without restraint
Rainbows
Made from paint
Feel in this, the wave of a master
The tears of the fallen, the lonely
The visions of the only

I am
The dark in a dawn descending
The heart of the dead in mourning
Membrane
Of the eye
Voices
In the sky
Feel in this, the breath of the sleeper
The blood of the fallen, denying
The visions of the crying

I am
Worms in the flesh left decaying
God of the sorrow of losing
Stains
Of blood still wet
Hearts
Not moldy yet
Feel in this, the God of the hammer
The guts on the shore, and the screaming
The visions of the dreaming
