Permalink Reply by Kelly Sinclair on September 15, 2010 at 8:11am I think the reply from "chris s" sums it up pretty well, except for the whole BP oil spill reference. I didn't quite pull that part from the song. Either way, I've enjoyed LP's music for the longest time now, THEY ARE BRILLIANT MUSICIANS!!!, and recently after watching the video for this song - the Catalyst video seems to encapsulate the feelings of a pain, rage, and pure loneliness from the imagery of what looks like hell. After just seeing the LP at the VMA's Observatory performance for this song, it's prevalent that the same uprising energy is with them. Although the audience may not understand the impact The Catalyst's message brings them as warning, it does shows us a sign of the times, as the entire crowd hammers their fists into the air. Now I know these men in the band don't align themselves with Christ, but the prophecy in the lyrics of this song really holds some weight in the Book of Revelation. Actually, I'd say most of the lyrics in this song applies to that book, but because their message is not completely aligned with this book, this would be considered a false prophecy and they'd be false profits. Go figure... It's crazy how God is still continuing to fulfill his promise to all the people through out these past couple thousand years, even through people who may not want to be used to fulfill his prophecy. Anyways, this is my honest depiction for any deep or intrinsic meaning in this song. If you read this, then thanks. I know, it's a tad overkill.

Permalink Reply by Monke on September 17, 2010 at 2:27pm You know capitalizing the first letter of every word is a bit distracting for the reader, and someone annoying.I Feel Like It's Talking About How The Illuminati Has Control Over Us And The Only Way To Be Saved Is To Have Salvation And To Be Saved!! If You Guys Don't Know About Illuminati Research It And You Will Be Stunned How The Government And Major Companys Use Music Movies To Install Subliminal MessagesInto Our Heads They Work Off Satan To Currupt The Youth And Ultimatly Have Satan Take Over This World. We Must Not Let This Happen The Key Is Knoledge And Preperation!!! May God Be With Us All!!!

Permalink Reply by Kelly Sinclair on September 28, 2010 at 7:29am I think that linkin park didn't mean something exactly by these lyrics , that's why this discussion is all about , to say what you think it means to you.
I think it's refer to the relation between Wars , The end of the world and Asking god for forgiveness for the sins that we , our fathers and sons did and lead to destroying the world by our hands.
What we have done is the Catalyst for the end of the world.

Permalink Reply by Shreya SILVER . on November 9, 2010 at 1:25am O.o wow, I wonder if you guys actually tried looking at The Catalyst in a different way but here's what I think what song means.
God bless us everyone
We're a broken people,
Living under loaded gun
And it can't be outfought
it can't be outdone
It can't be outmatched
it can't be outrun,
No
-This part here probably means that they're living a life whereby they could just die the next second and therefore seeking strength from God to get them through simply because there's nothing they can do about it.
Otherwise, you guys probably nailed the rest :P
