I'm a grown-up - I could be your mother (42 years). Obviously the majority of LP fans are really under the age of 20?

God yes Exactly it's a frustrating thing actually !!

I feel Disconnected I'm actually 20 myself so it's kinda hard making a Conversation with 14 year old if you know what i mean !

and thank you 4 the reply it's really nice to know that there's a fan of linkin park in every generation :)

I think for music there exist no age limits!

But I understand you when you say you feel disconnected - I feel the same but for other reasons -most people of my age here in my surroundings are already too "old" - they don't understand any more my enthusiasm for this kind of music.

I think you mean so young, not immature. (Sorry if you think I'm being a douche for pointing that out, not my intention.) Anyone can act immature. If you are saying those expressing they are being bullied, maybe it's because of Chester, he is strongly against it. Anything else they are feeling such as loneliness, it's because of LP's lyrics.

If you mean, age....

LP has been around for a while now. Whether you count from 1996 or 2000, that's still over a decade. That would actually mean that some fans are around the band's age to their 20's. Some have even said they'll be taking their kids to their first LP concert, and they are fans too. Those that are around the band's age (Chester being the oldest at 34) probably listened to them when they were playing small gigs or even as back as Xero/Hybrid Theory (the band, not the album) days. They started recording songs when they got out of high school. Then, consider that Grey Daze fans, who listen because of Chester. They were actually well known in Arizona. So, those fans were probably around 18 to their 20's, probably college students as some band members were still in college when Hybrid Theory came out, like Mike.

Those who are in their 20's now, probably started out as 12 year old fans back when the Hybrid Theory album came out. So, the new fans are going to pop up around that age as well because they will be discovering their music from Hybrid Theory...you know that teen angst. Also, consider that Hybrid Theory and Meteora don't contain any explicit lyrics so it's approved by their parents. Now that LP's sound is older, so are the 12 year old's from a decade ago. Before it was more about feeling, which attracts any age. Now, it's more of what are you going to do about it, which is also attracting adults. Some have elements of activism and more serious issues, which is the case such as their new album (war/speeches from political figures.) This may be the reason why some have actually said that they are adults but never listened to LP until now (saw this on youtube). Still, this is also the reason why, for example, someone here in the site said they didn't like the activism in their new album because they didn't want to hear that, so they stick to Hybrid Theory (again the teen angst). Even my parents know LP because through me, and they are over 50. For crying out loud, my dad started calling my new dog Linkin without me even announcing her new name, and did it stuck.

LP used the internet to get their name across. So, it's through the internet that LP keeps in contact with their fans (LPU/LPUX, Mike's blog, video chat, LP TV, ect.)  It is through the internet that their Street Team came into place (which were their first fans). So, who do you think uses the internet the most. The kids are getting younger as they the discover the internet. I understand you feeling disconnected, sometimes I feel that way too. I'll be gone for weeks and really not that active. Not that I don't love LP, but there have been those who have been immature. I give them no importance. Then again, give them a computer to hide behind and they'll act whatever age they please. I don't do the chat because I don't understand I feel like I have to refer to my youth of a whole new language to catch what is being typed. I've gone to concerts or meet/greets, and from what I've seen, they didn't act immature. Actually very nice and they didn't look like 12 year olds at all. Who knows now, maybe I'll see how the fan base has changed when I go to their concert. Last time I went there were two grandma's behind me with their LP shirts on.

So, I guess what I'm trying to say (hahaha!), music has no age limits. I bet there must be a group consisting of LP fans over 18. Honestly, I don't know if there are, like I said, I'm not that active.

.

thank you so much for your reply I love your post :)
well .... you are right !! new fans are turning to lp and they are young ( I'm not gonna say immature and no you're not a doughe for pointing that out )
and they want lp to do the same music they've performed a decade ago and I guess that's why they don't like the new album
and maybe that's why I can't stand them bcuz they haven't evolved with the band

Hey @ Poison Ivy

I can partially agree with your statement.  I have encountered both people that I feel are totally immature - not by age but by what they say - it's hit or miss.  I have also really benefited and encountered a few people from all over who I have really bonded with and have had some meaningful discussion.

I love LP and have since Metora.  The fans - do range in age quiet a bit but thats a credit to the band - they have been able to remain relevant to many different people.  I am definitely older than you but at the same time I believe that you and I probably feel the same way about their music.  Others on this board i am not too sure.

Just remember that it takes all kinds but the one thing that unifies us all is that we love LP.

That for me is good enough to keep on this site and hope that I meet like minded people.

Anyways, my 2cents.

Nicholas

I signed in to Linkin Park hoping for some contact with other fans, also of my age. But the forum here seems a little bit inactive ... I read all the time "LP, please come to this country", "LP, you must visit my country"... "Chester, I love you", "Mike, I love you".... that's all the discussions here are about... so please tell me where is the group of LP fans that likes to discuss facts around the band :-)

that's exactly what I mean .... fans here don't talk about the band ....... we don't talk about their music .... about their lyrics.

I mean this is a website of LINKIN PARK meaning WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT LINKIN PARK  !!

the other day I went on limp bizkit's website and their fans were talking about their newest album to be released (gold cobra)

I mean that was nice ... on slipknot's website fans were talking about paul gray and how much they appreciate his music   !!!

there's a lot to talk about but little to discuss on this forum thank you for pointing that out that was really insightful from you :)

hey @ Nicholas

I agree with you ... immaturity is not measured by age, grown ups can be quite immature aswell !!

lp is successful in drawing a lot of fans from all walks of life ... I see myself in every song they perform and I'm able to conect with them and I'm thankful for that and I think it's very important to relate to a song specially if you're into a band and have been a fan for over a lomg time !!!

my 2cents for you 2 nick, thank you for your reply
