We live on a wet planet, and without that water we would not be able to survive. But in places like China where I live, industries such as textile facilities are pumping a nasty cocktail of toxic chemicals into our water – you only need to see the photos below to get an idea of just how critical the situation is.
At Greenpeace, we’re campaigning to Detox our water: exposing brands that are sourcing from polluting facilities and highlighting the disastrous effects of hazardous chemicals in our waterways. So for this World Water Day we thought we would share with you ten facts about water that you probably didn’t know… but really should.
10 devastating facts about water pollution you ought to know

with us.
speaking of coral reefs something similar is happening here in Mexico. There is a coral reef called Cabo Pulmo that is one of the coral reefs with the most animal and plant biodiversity. It is now a national park (protected) but there's a new project called Cabo Cortés in which they want to build a lot of hotels and make it a touristic zone, but that means the destruction of Cabo Pulmo. All the sewage will be thrown to the ocean ruining the coral reef. This coral reef is very special because it holds more than 5000 species of living organism and its considered natural and cultural heritage by the UNESCO. There is a youtube video explaning this in which mexican celebrities talk about the issue and ecourage you to vote against this project but.. .its in spanish :/ idk if anyone here speaks spanish but here is the link anyway http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSEufo8MZvQ i could answer any questions if you like :) and idk if you can vote against this if you are not from Mexico but you guys can try.. .here is the link to the voting page: www.salvemoscabopulmo.org ... all you have to do is give your name and email adress and click where it says 'vota' (vote)

Comment by Mike Mantecon on February 29, 2012 at 1:11pm Hey Georgia18, have you heard of a group called make some music for relief. I am the leader of that group, and we working on making albums to get money off of them and give it to the homeless people. You got me thinking in making a branch of it called Make some Music for The Earth, which will make funds for environment protection. If i do this, will you support me in doing so and notify the members of this group about it?
