[The Ultimate Fighter Season 17 Episode 8]

Summary:
"Determination. Discipline. Excellence." These were the qualities required to emerge as The Ultimate Fighter in the Spike TV reality series of the same name. Each season featured at least 16 of the nation's top mixed fighters, all vying for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

If Detective Frank Drebin from the Naked Gun films and Tosh from The Bill taught us anything, it was to never underestimate a policeman and in the latest episode of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’, we saw why. The episode began as Team Sonnen’s Jimmy Quinlan said that his opponent Clint Hester was the match up he wanted from day one. This was despite Clint being Team Jones’ number one pick. Clint himself said he would find a way to get the $5000 bonus for finishing the fight. The fighters visited Hooters. They ate, they drank and Gilbert Smith even wore female clothing, which he then ripped off. It appeared as though everyone had a good time, but Uriah Hall chose to alienate himself from the group.

At the Team Sonnen training session, Coach Scott McQuary pulled Uriah to one side to discuss his mental state. Uriah said he was constantly thinking about fighting because he wanted to win so badly. He said he experienced a constant battle to fight himself. He continues to intrigue. Josh Samman was in pain from his fight last week. He visited the hospital to check there was no blood clot in his leg and he was relieved to hear there wasn’t, so he can continue in the competition. Next, we got into the back-story of the two men fighting in this episode. Jimmy said he grew up in Massachusetts. Refreshingly, he stated that he wasn’t involved in fighting on the streets in his youth. He studied criminal justice before he headed into a career with the police.
