"The Catalyst" Music Video Premiere

When coming up with the idea for our new music video, "The Catalyst," I thought of the end of the world. What would it be like if someone could push a button to decide our fate? What would it feel like if we accept our fate in the moment of devastation? How would we celebrate our one final living moment?

Check out the world premiere of the video for "The Catalyst" at MTV.com and VH1.com, and then go HERE and let me know what you think.

That vid was EPIC! It was so deep! I really liked it and I can see a lot of positive feedback on other comments as well. Great video, loved the buildings crashing and people mobbing everywhere and the smoke which added a lot of effect to the video. Mike in the back of the car is different, you dont see stuff like that in music videos and it was really cool and intersting. Also Chester in the water made it look very cool. You're never going to find another music video like this one. The words Joe put up there really explain the video well. All in all, great music video and I'm looking forward to A Thousand Suns!

The video had great potential. I would say this video failed cause of its minor flaws. The primary flaw was that there were too many close ups. I have seen this in many martial arts films as well. We dont want to see the tip of afinger or in this case a drum stick. We want to see the subjects involved. A cool idea would have been to usethe camera in afly technique sense where you are far away and then you pan in. You lost out on alot of great and amazing shots by having everything close up. I hate when people do that. We want to see the action not flashes or little pieces of it. Its like there is the whole body but you choose to only capture the small little lint on the persons clothing come on. If there was more of a story line in here then just a bunch of abstract images sometims it would have been great. More use of the gas masked people would have been nice. A cohesive story not jumping from one thing to the next to the next. Anyway just my thoughts again amazing potential but you failed with aincohesive story too many changes to different parts and everything being close up. I fucking hate close ups people get it through your head pan out!

Where to start...*cough* Okay, first of all, I loved the video, on the other hand, there are a couple of minor details that aren't exactly how I would've done it, but Joe you're the director, I'm only a student and a wannabe film director, in the future.
But I really love the video. The main reason is probably the concept of the video, the end of the world. That always creeped me out but also fascinated me. I love videos which have a deeper concept and are not just plain, simple ones.
Using paint was a really great idea. Some people think that showing Mike and Chester for the most of the time the video is shown is kind of like an insult to the fans who expected to see more of you, Phi, Brad, and Rob. I, on the other hand, imagined more of Mike and Chester in dramatic situations. Everyone in the band looked amazing, on the lines of "people who are living on a loaded gun" LOL But honestly, instead of paint I imagined you all being in a dessert, like in those promo pictures of ATS. The video surprised me a little, but all in all, I love it. It's amazing. Thank you!!!!! :D

Like the video. But i prefer the radio version of "The Catalyst", it has some details that differs from this version which makes it better(at the beggining and at the end).
The video is great, something i had never seen before such has "The Catalyst".
