Amazing, surreal, mature and epic! Linkin Park expands on their nu-metal, electronica and hip-hop sound and influences and brings us a work of musical art worthy of praise for its experimentation, its bold and risky approach and ultimately, its successful pay-off. Like a Pink Floyd experience, the music takes us on a journey that is both surreal and so multi-layered in sound and instrumentation that it gives way to a brand new genre of music - one of which cannot be categorized at this time. Its neither any of the aforementioned genres of music. Their interludes with revolutionary sound bites and speeches by Martin Luther King, Mario Savio and Robert Oppenheimer are short yet effective in setting the tone and precursor to the songs that follow. Long gone are the lyrics of teenage angst and heartbreak that were focal points of Hybrid Theory and Meteora. Instead, their maturing sound and lyrics are wallowed in worldly issues of frustration, despair, suffering and hopelessness that give way to their own revolutionary undertones. Often, these messages are reinforced through tribal chants, hard electronica beats, sound bites of war, robotic auto-tunes and surreal, instrumental beauty. However, the album does come full circle with a message of love, hope and kindness on its final track appropriately titled 'The Messenger'. It is a track that is almost all acoustic and stripped away of the multi-layered sound that is 99 % of the album...a song stripped away of the establishment, the dread, the hopeless and the robotic future that is being paved throughout the world today...a simple song that gives us hope of a brighter future...so bright that it could be illuminated by A Thousand Suns.

Buy this album, put on your head phones, lie down in a dark room and listen to this album from beginning to end and enjoy the experience that is known as Linkin Park. This is an album that will define our times! Congrats Chester, Mike, Brad, Rob, Joe and Dave.

the album is by far your most risky project of your career and i applaud you guys for forgetting about commercial success on this album and instead keeping your artistic integrity and values in your music. I'm sure there are going to be those fans who want the old nu metal sound but i'd much rather you guys evolve in your music and continue to give us entirely new experiences in each one of your albums. Congratulations guys and I can not wait for the concert tonight.
