No one wants to hear something so devastating happen, let alone see it. If you watch the video of the tsunami on the news, it brings about a sense of fearful awe over the power of mother nature.A helicopter panned over the distance of the waves...and it just kept going. Watching the waves of the ocean push cars and house as if they were toys made me nauseous. They also noted that this tsunami may change the entire geography of Japan; land that is covered may never be recovered again.
However, as I watched the news broadcasts, it also brought on a sense of strong guilt too. Other horrible tragedies have affected places all around the world, and yet it took something like this to really get my attention and to really think about what everyone affected by such tragedies is going through, not just Japan. The unrest in the Middle East is also extremely troubling, and people, especially children, should never have to live with and in such fear and turmoil.
Overall, it brings a sense of understanding of how lucky I truly am to still be here, to have my family, and to be living the life I am. When something in my life goes wrong or I am feeling frustrated, I tell myself how trivial it is compared to what other people around the world are encountering. It is truly a humbling feeling.
It is true; we cannot forget the others who have been affected and who are being affected by tragedies, or who live in fear for their lives. Let us all pray for everyone around the world, including Japan, that are in need of prayers, of love and support, and of reassurance.
I hope everything is fixed soon , Hope To Japan
Japan's economy is not that great to be honost. I study Japanese at the university with my focus on economics and housing so I can tell you that that is a fact and not an arguement.
This earthquake has a huge impact on the economy in Japan. They already had a huge debt to pay and with the tsunami destroying countless houses etc. the Yen will definitly drop more in value. Millions of people are now homeless and I think a donation like this is a good way to help them out.
You say: " If there is an earthquake in Canada would you help them out? No." You should not generalise like that. I understand what you mean, but aren't all people equal and shouldn't they all receive the same care? Of course people in Haiti have in general a worse situation than the people in Japan, but at the moment they need help.
And no Pandobox, I don't think everyone is waiting to these situations you are lokking out for.
So I think I speak for the most of us that I hope that this won't happen again somewhere else in the world and that our prayers go out to all the families and friends who lost their loved ones due to this awful disaster.
