So, I don't understand what happened. Don't get me wrong, I still like Linkin park quite a bit, but I don't understand why the band changed so much. I bought hybrid theory, Meteora, minutes to midnight, a thousand suns, and just today living things. I've noticed that hybrid theory was hard, not like a7x, but certainly adequate screams and a certain anger that not everyone can relate to, and I really liked that. Then Meteora kept it pretty hard too, Then minutes to midnight had a few more soft ones than usual, but still half and half. A thousand suns pissed me off a little, because When they come for me, Wretches and kings, and fallout were the only harder ones. Now living things. I don't really  have a problem with easy songs, but what happened? Why go soft, I mean there was a lot of anger and at least screaming to start, I just want to know what made the band change, Faint ts one of my favorite songs from them

I understand what silvana is saying. I can see that overtime chester has had a lot of stress on hi s vnoice. But its not just the voice. The whole sound of the old linkin park is just not there. I can see where linkin park said the new album favors hybrid theory In a way, but the hard rock sound isnt there anymore. Theres too much technoish sound overpowering the original sound. But as a fan I support Linkin Park. I like their new stuff. Especially Lost in the Echo. But I will always choose their old style over the new.

I felt the same about the change, Hybrid Theory is still one of my all time favourite albums. But the change is what makes LP such a kick ass band, one of the greats (and THANK YOU for FINALLY getting your asses to South Africa!!!!). The undergound stuff, Fort Minor, all of it is just the band members doing what they love best, and besides, I've never seen anoyher band take so much interest in what the fans think, want and feel! LP and JayZee ring a bell? Keep it up guys, but please, a little more of that Hybrid Savagery.

Lies Greed Misery is not very soft.

Anyway... the answer is: Because they are not afraid of changing their style, even though they know that they will lose many fans by doing that and because they are not trying to make the music that fans want to hear, but the music that they feel like making ;) The difference is that most artists see what fans like and then continue making the same. That's why many of them turn out pretty boring. I can't get bored with Linkin Park, because you never know what to expect and that's what makes it even more excited :)
