NEW ALBUM, “A THOUSAND SUNS,” OUT SEPTEMBER 14

No puzzles or hidden messages with this one. We’re excited to finally announce that our new album, A THOUSAND SUNS, will be released on September 14th.

The lead single for the album is called “The Catalyst.” It will be released on August 2nd.

Beginning tomorrow, July 9th, we’re teaming up with MySpace for “Linkin Park, Featuring You,” a contest which gives you the one-of-a-kind opportunity to be on our new album. We'll be giving you some audio from “The Catalyst,” and you get to take it from there; you can remix the parts, write something over them, or mute stuff and write something totally new. We may choose a remix of the song, and put it on the album…or, we may choose an amazing keyboardist, string quartet, guitarist, percussion group, or other musician, and invite them into the studio to play on one of our songs. No matter what instrument you play, you can win. We're open to anything good. All we ask is that you include any audible portion of any one of our stems in your submission.

Once you submit, the community (that's you) will vote, and the most popular stuff will rise to the top. Then, my bandmates and I will comb through the submissions, choose one winner, and they will be included on our album, A THOUSAND SUNS. Check out http://www.myspace.com/linkinpark for contest details.

I think I've said enough for now. Thanks for your continued support. We’ve got more announcements coming, so keep checking LinkinPark.com for updates.

Alrighty so before I give my 2 cents towards the new album, I would love to say Sup Mike, Chester and the boys, you guys are always a Number 1 hit in South Africa and I really hope you guys will have a live concert here, specially in Durban :)

Secondly, what do I think of the new album? Honestly I love you guys to bits, you are one of my favourite if not thee favourite band in the world and I can say respect to have grown up with your music. It's something I will always have, I have all your Albums by the way, even the underground stuff. The new album however, it's really really really different, It was like I was listening to Kid Cudi with Aarmin Van Beuren doing the beats. I missed the way Chester goes for a song, the passion he gives with his voice when singing the excellent songs you guys put together. I really had to double check if I was listening to Linkin Park.

To be fair, not your greatest album, however you have such a lot of great albums and it's hard to top those. Hybrid Theory was something else, a album which only the best of the best can pull off. I will always support you guys, I love you guys. For the people on your comment list who says "I am not longer a LP fan" really just proves how far they'll go to follow one of the best bands of the 20th century. Mike you and Chester are extremly talented, so I know you guys will accept this criticism and just push forward.

By the way, I have to add... the song on your new album "Blackout" - That's the FLAIR of Linkin Park - awesome song... Chester Magic with the extremly talented Mr Mike Shinoda :) A big ups to you guys from the people of SOUTH AFRICA !!! Go Linkin Park MAGIC :)

A Thousand Suns but not one decent track!!! Im ashamed to be an LP fan. Whats happened? Have you all grown vaginas? Sadly, I am no longer an LP fan. The new album is like listening to some weakass sh!t from The Killers!

you were a 'new metal' Band...now all sounds like some 'curch-chor'....i hope the incomes from this album shows you, that isn't the right way to keep your fans....it's a very very bad way...or do you want your new fans from a church or what?...or your next live event there too?

Before all....I'm a great fan of the Band from the beginning....since One Step Closer
Midnight album had got few very good songs, but NOT ALL songs, as before.

But this.....this new album...sry guys....with honor...I just registered to write this...I think your fans need to know before they there money spend...if i could shit looks like a CD then were this your new album.....i can't tell how bad it is....sry....it's awful....my greatest disappointment

Some people wrote Catalyst is so-so.....far far the best song on the album.....you can then imagine, how the others are....

sry....as a great fan (of your first albums!)

LINKINPARK IS LOSING ITS CHARMS AS IT DOESNOT RELEASE ITS MUSIC IN OLD FASHION WHERE CHESTER USED TO SING & MIKE RAPPED THEIR SONG. LIKE MINS. TO MIDNIGHT THEIR NEW ALBUM SHOULD NOT BE A DISASTER
BUT IN THE END
"LINKINPARK ROCKS"
