hem, if the whole album's like that... LP will lose a lot of fans... Sorry, but electro is not what I call new sound... I call it mix of all the shit that's on the radio with guitars... a little bit like shit bands like metro station,...

O and stop baggin on Rick Rubin, he just guides the boys, all the sounds and lyrics come directly from the band. He gives them suggestions of how to structure a song or feedback on lyrics. He doesnt say, 'Hey, lets do a techno album and show those fans who's boss!! bwahahaha!!'

LP is and always will be the driving force behind the progression of whatever genre they are!!

For those of you naive enough to believe the entire album will be filled with only the technoish sound from this clip. Click this link http://mikeshinodaclan.com/2010/07/a-thousand-suns-review-promo-ban... Its a review of six tracks from the album including 'The Catalyst'.
Here's a quote that will excite many:
Mike Shinoda, who co-produced the album with Rick Rubin, is very present on this title.

Mike is baaaackk! Not that he left, but he will be rapping much more on this album then M2M which was still great!

I respect the fact that LP want to vary their music but you would have thought they would show a bit more respect to there long time fans. I know its only 34secs but it sounds like pendulum so you cant even call it a new sound. They are losing their fans and they might laugh at this but its still true. After you put in all the hard work to make yourself known on first two albums it gets a lot easier to write crap and still get lots of money.

@ A Zee

thanks for your support and i really couldn't agree more, its such a shame that some people feel the need to slag off the material that these guys have worked so hard to write and record for us. not only that, but seeing as they gave all of us the opportunity to have an input with this single, you cant really complain if its not what you like.

i think it sounds really cool, its definitely different, but it sounds awsome. Thats why linkin park is my favorite band, because they are different and unique than anybody else out there and they're willing to change their sound,.

Linkin Park have given us puzzles and a contest to get the fans involved in this since before the album was anounced and I pray this is another one mikes jokes

@James Lingham:

Hear hear! I second you on the comment.
Read any of Mike's comments regarding genres and it is clearly one of his pet hates... he particularly does not like the band to be catalogued as a "Nu-metal" band, in fact, he has stated he hasn't been into that genre since the mid/late ninety's!
If any of you so called 'die hard' fans know a thing about LP is that they have always been known for leading the way in music, setting the genre, trying something different.. this is them doing precisely what they have always done and been listened to for.
As for the claims of the 34 sec 'preview' being techno, disco (wtf?) I think it's time for a quick music genre 101 lesson ppl.. this clearly ain't any of those things, it is a totally new sound.
Be open minded, learn to move with the times and embrace new sounds and you'll find they will not disappoint, and being the band they are they will always stay true to their 'sound' whatsoever that will be.
