Hey guys,

After weeks of hearing the amazing remixes on MySpace... I'm pleased to announce the wait for the real thing is over. Our new single, "The Catalyst," is out today!

To check out the song, you can go to iTunes. If you want more, get "The Catalyst" instantly with any purchase on linkinpark.com--buy anything, get the song immediately, and get the digital version of the whole album for free (even if you buy a t-shirt or skate deck) the moment it becomes available. There are also two great CD/DVD versions of the album that contain the official documentary of the making of the album. Get all this before anyone else here.

In other exciting news: we are proud to announce that the winning version of the "Linkin Park Featuring You" contest on MySpace is NoBraiN, an English teacher from Swidnica, Poland. Overall, we were blown away by the quality of entries, and the excitement by artists and fans alike. We can't thank you enough. We intend to do some special things with many of our favorite entries in the future...but first and foremost, you can hear NoBraiN's winning track here. When I contacted him directly via Skype, he was freaking out. Check that out here.

Before I go, I there's one more note. Our very own Joe Hahn directed an exclusive trailer for the new Medal of Honor game, using music from "The Catalyst." Check it out here.

More updates to come,

-Mike

Note: "The Catalyst" will be released in the UK on September 6.

Why does the UK have to wait over a month to get the first single when the rest of the world gets in now? It's one thing if we had to wait a week or two, but this is over a month, and the date is right on top of the album's release, unless we have to wait longer for that too. This sort of thing is what pushes fans towards downloading songs illegally, just so they actually have the song.

As for the new sound ... I'm really loving the new direction. I think it sounds like a mature version of the old Linkin Park and I can't wait for the new album, or the LP concert I'm going to in November. It's gonna be awesome.

Love the comments. Both the ones saying they like the songs, and the stupid whinings. I still think the best way to describe The Catalyst is what Azar Javed said to Geralt near the end of Witcher Act 3. "The future, evolution or destiny." When MTM was out, I didn't believe I could be interested in a song longer than 3 minutes. The Catalyst is almost 6 and I love it. LP evolves, true fans evolve.

Damn.. I'm disapointed...about guys like ralph...It's LP ! they change.. and their new style is just awesome.. and I think it's not a copy of other style of music.. it's still their own music.. this song is a piece of art..the lyrics.. the conception.. God ! LP is on top of their art and if you don't see that.. you're know nothing about music and more.. you know nothing about LP !!

A Thousand Suns is a revolution for them.. and it's a revolution for us !

I love this song and I love how hypocritical some fans are. Many of them probably don't understand the construction of music. Everyone says that this is some Euro-Trash bull and I want to individually go up to each and everyone of them and hand them the Hybrid Theory EP. Then Smile. Then tell them to shut up. My point is, everyone says that they've changed from their first album why can't they just be who they were. Well, they NEVER were like their first album. So it'd be hard to ever go back to it. My point is, their first album is out of progression. Back in 2000 about every person about s*** their pants from complaining about how Linkin Park wasn't a real ROCK act and that they were just muddle up to sell records because it worked. Kinda like what people say about pop-rap that you hear now-a-days. Linkin Park is trying to say f*** you to the money and the fame because they've already have that. It's now time for them to create their magnum opus. To create the most badass, artistic, thought out record we've been able to come across since The Wall. Trust me, there will be rock on this album and their will be rap, but it'll be wrapped up in a trance/techno/electric sound to present the story they WANT to tell. And I can't wait to hear it. I honestly can't. Also, for all the old so-called "hardcore" linkin park fans that only love on Hybrid Theory, do you honestly think deep down that Linkin Park is even listening or catering to your ever whim? You can whine and complain all you want and they won't do crap about it. So get over it. Anyway.......11/14/10.....I'll be awake at Midnight waiting.....Peace

Well done LP for such an amazing piece of composition. For people like Ralsph Wesley who think progression is somehow a bad thing, you need to get off your conservative high horse. Hybrid theory is an amazing album, but they are never going to make that album again. The catalyst is the amalgamation of all that has come before, and sure, M2M wasn't their best album but I now see where they were trying to get to. BTW Ralsph, missing spelling profanity and bitching like a pre pubescent girl is not going to stop the rest of us real fans from enjoying LP.
