Ok, it was an uneventful drive up on Tuesday from KC.  Had Portillo's hot dogs for dinner (suggested by a friend). Probably the best hot dog EVER!  Wife and I got up and grabbed some Starbucks on the way to the United Center for the Summit, which was one of the most fun events I have been to.

It was amazing to see the staff and how well everyone came together to make everything click and keep the guys doing what they do best.  We signed up for the stage tour and got some great shots of the LP weapons of choice.  Wife and I have a great shot of us both holding Brad's guitars.  They were beautiful to say the least...told the wife I want one or twelve.  Rob's kit is busy but it has to be.

The sound check was cool and very entertaining.  It let us see how the guys work through issues they come across and it was nice to see how that aspect of their working relationship was present with everyone we came in contact with throughout the day.

Meet and Greet time was funny to say the least.  My wife was so nervous.  The guys were great!  Down to earth and engaging everyone like we had all known each other for years.  It just goes to show how the guys really do see all the fans as part of the family.  Shaking hands and asking questions to the fans and really listening....what a great time!

Q and A was pretty cool as well.  One thing for sure is the guys all have a great sense of humor!  Brad, Chester and Mike were available for questions while Joe and Rob gave tours and Phoenix played FIFA 2011 with one lucky silent auction bidder.  The question was asked of the guys what they would be doing if they were not making music....Brad "working at QVC"  -hillarious!  Chester...A real estate agent.. followed by a here is your fucking house...wanna buy it?  I was laughing so hard I almost missed Mike say....I would be working for Brad.  At QVC, Brad replied.  Getting him coffee or something... said Mike.  I was almost in tears at this point.  There was also a question about where the inspiration came from for A Thousand Suns...Mike handled this one flawlessly.  Without missing a beat said We all looked at Chester and thought...Chester is a weird dude, so we should make a weird album.  Laughs all around.

At the end of the day it was almost 5:30 and the guys had to get going and prepare for what was sure to be one hell of a show.  Sadly we have to wait till Sat to see it, but WE WILL SEE IT!  We headed back to our hotel elated and a little tired, grabbed some Gino's East and chilled before the drive back to KC this morning.

Our drive back was a mess all the way across Illinois.  Snow everywhere.  We took our time and reflected on a great trip to the Windy City to see our favorite band in what is sure to be one of the memories we will cherish forever.

hi james, just wanted to say that it was really nice to hear your recount of the chicago's summit... makes one really want to attend a m&g (even more than usual, i mean). it would be great if other people would do the same - especially if they can do it as nicely as you did. should i be so lucky to attend a m&g when the guys are back in europe, i will surely do the same.  thanks again! :-)

Wow!  Wife just called me from work and it seems that we both won the raffle to attend the Meet and Greet here in KC tomorrow...what luck!

dragon20- we cannot wait to see the show.  I am stoked!  The concert here in KC was my 7th anniversary present from the little woman, Summit was from her for Christmas and she got the deck for my 37th B-day coming up in March.  She went all out to say the least.  I am going to have a display case soon to hang on the wall in my living room to keep all our momentos in from this experience and to show off to our friends when we have them over.  I think I remember seeing you there with the bag and the LPU4 shirt.  I remember saying something to my wife about your shirt being one of the older ones when she asked where to get one like it.  Good times man, glad to have shared the day with you there too.

I am so glad you guys had a great time :)  I know you guys will enjoy the show just as much when you do see it.  It did kick ass on so many levels!!

I rolled laughing too btw at the Q&A :D  I can't wait to finally get enough time to type out my blog about the Summit and Concert :)

[I was too shy/nervous to let it be known that I was a mod there - or that my birthday was the day prior :P ... You may have seen me though, I had on my LPU 4 shirt, carried a blue bag the majority of the day :P (It had my scrapbook in it that I had them sign at the M&G)]
