This summer will be one year that I have started listening to Linkin Park. It's hard to believe that one band has completely immersed itself in my life. Plus, the fact that a new album could be out by this summer seems like a fitting anniversary.
I've known of Linkin Park for some time but had no real interest in them until recently. Before then I would only pay attention if I happened across one of their music videos on TV. I clearly remember the first time I heard Linkin Park, when I saw the video for "Breaking the Habit." It wasn't until I heard the singles from A Thousand Suns did I sit up and take notice of them. It started small, checking through their albums and listening to their songs on Playlist, but slowly, yet surely, Linkin Park became a part of my life.
From then on I would scour the their website and YouTube for behind-the-scenes videos and anything I could my hands on. Linkin Park had practically become (and more than likely is) an obsession for me.
Looking past their music, videos, and photos, I began to look at the people in the band. I think they're an interesting and incredible group of guys. Mike Shinoda has become a personal hero to me. I'm inspired by his talent and work ethic, it makes me want to work hard to achieve my goals. I want to become a comic book artist and this band, among other things, keeps me energized and working towards my dreams.
One of my goals for this year is to see Linkin Park in concert. I'm lazy ne'er-do-well but I'm willing to work hard and push forward for the opportunity to do this.
I don't know what the future will bring (besides a new album) but the band with their music and personality has inspired me to keep trying. I'll do my best!
(Here's to meeting Chester, Mike, Joe, Rob, Phoenix, and Brad this year!)
