So yeah, I know this is kinda old but almost 2 years ago the unexpectable happened! Linkin Park announced their very first concert here in Greece! At first I couldn't believe it. A dream was about to come true. Nevertheless, after going to their concert and finally seeing them live after so many years of waiting, I wrote this: an article describing what was happening that day, the feelings, the energy...pretty much everything.
It was the 25th of June, the day I was getting my school report for the end of the year. What made this day so special? Besides the report – for which I don’t really care – Linkin Park, my favorite band, were performing live for the first time ever in Greece. As you can imagine I couldn’t miss it. After so many years of waiting they finally came in Athens. I was so excited.
It was 9 o’ clock in the morning and I still couldn’t believe that Linkin Park
were actually here. At about 10.30 I went to my school to get my report. It was awesome because to my surprise one of my teachers, who is a Linkin Park fan too, asked me if I was going to the concert that night. Anyways, my grade was 18.8! Pretty good one, so I had two reasons to be happy about. We left the school and head back home. It was still 12 o’ clock. How was I going to spend six more hours till 6 o’ clock when I was going to leave for Terra Vibe Park?
I opened the messenger to chat with my friends about the reports and the
upcoming concert. Time was passing by so slowly! At about 4 o’ clock I started to get ready. I wore my Linkin Park t-shirt with the Hybrid Soldier on it and a pair of jeans. Half an hour later I found myself wondering around the house and counting down seconds! I actually made my dad go crazy because he couldn’t stand me, I was talking all day long about Linkin Park, nothing else.
Finally it was 6 o’ clock. I run towards the car. On our way to Terra Vibe
Park we faced the biggest traffic ever. It was like all Athens was going to the concert. When we arrived, we got inside the concert area and I was so excited! As I was walking to the front row and passed by all these kids I felt like I knew them for years and I could see in all their faces the excitement and amazement they had.
It was 8 o’ clock, one hour before Linkin Park hit the stage, Everyone was
Getting ready, Blackout, the opening band, were on stage performing. To tell the truth, I didn’t like them because they were like heavy metal singers with leather pants and stuff. Time was passing by and it was about 9.50pm. Blackout had left the stage.
Suddenly, the intro of “One Step Closer” was on! I couldn’t believe my eyes.
Linkin Park were here, right in front of me! Brad, Mike, Rob, Joe, Phi and Chester were on stage! After the first song they made a little pause to welcome us to the show. After a couple of their powerful songs like “Lying From You”, “Somewhere I Belong”, “Papercut” and “No More Sorrow” Mike said that they’re not in the habit of introducing the next songs and Chester replied that when that song was written he wasn’t even in the band. So after that they played “Reading My Eyes”. It was so cool! Meanwhile, Mike showed us a big Greek flag and put it in his keyboard. Then he said a big thank you to the fans who gave them the flag. Songs like “Numb”, “Breaking The Habit” and “Leave Out All The Rest” were played and made the atmosphere cozy. You could feel that fans and band were one. Then they took a break but didn’t last long because we were all shouting as loud as we could for them to come back on stage.
Mike was the first to show up after the break and the intro of “In The End” started. Three more songs were played. During “Bleed It Out” it was like a huge party was being held. Chester shouting “Oooo”, “Oeoo” and the fans were singing along. It was crazy! “Faint” was the last song. Linkin Park did their best and showed all their energy that they had left. Despite being tired and exstauted they all left the stage with a big smile on their faces.
The night was coming to an end and it was time to leave. As we were
walking to the parking site I could see in everybody’s faces happiness. Many of them had tears in their eyes too! On the way home they only thing I was thinking was Linkin Park and what an awesome night I had.
I’ll never forget that day. It meant so much to me. It was a dream that came
true. Linkin Park are in my heart and will continue to be forever!
