Linkin Park Biography - An American Rock Band

Are you a fan of American rock music? Then certainly this short Linkin Park biography would interest you. The band was formed in 1996 in Agoura Hills, California. They became well-known internationally in 2005 with the release of their album, 'Hybrid Theory', which was a certified Diamond record album by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

The group was originally made up of Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, and Rob Bourdon. They were three high school friends who shared the same musical ambitions. They soon decided to form a band which they then called Xero and then went out to recruit David Farrell, Joe Hahn, and Mark Wakefield.

Just like with any other bands, they experienced great difficulties especially during their first few years in trying to land a record deal. This lead to internal friction between the members and as a result, Wakefield and Farrell decided to leave.

As a replacement for Wakefield, which was their vocalist at the time of his departure, they decided to get Chester Bennington and he became an official member on March of 1999. It was around this time that they changed their name from Xero to Hybrid Theory. And as part of any Linkin Park biography, they finally settled to that name as a homage to Santa Monica's Lincoln Park.

After many tries with getting a major record label to sign them up, they finally got lucky with Jeff Blue who was then vice president of Warner Bros. Records. Jeff was able to sign them up for a record deal which resulted to the band's debut album in 2000, 'Hybrid Theory'.

The album was a sweet success for the group because it contained almost a decade of their works that were not able to get published. The album sold over 4.8 million copies. With their hit single, 'Crawling', the band won the Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance. They were also nominated for two other Grammy's, for Best Rock Album and Best New Artist. This is a rare feat for a band to achieve with just their debut album. Needless to say, the awards helped sell more albums and launched the group into the awareness of the global rock music scene.

Other successful albums followed. On March 25, 2003 their second album, 'Meteora', was released. The name was taken from the rocky region of Meteora in Greece.By the end of that year, the album sold over 3 million copies and also immediately went to the number one spot.

Their next album was the 'Minutes to Midnight' which was released on the 15th of March, 2007. It took the band fourteen months to finish it. The album has since sold over 8 million copies.

Their most recent album was the 'A Thousand Suns' which was released on September 2008. It was a concept album which deals more about nuclear warfare and themes of war. It mainly garnered mixed reviews from the critics.

This is a short, and certainly, an unfinished Linkin Park biography because the band still has a lot to offer to their fans. With their ingenuity in combining a wide range of music styles which include alternative rock, nu metal, rap rock, and hip hop; the band will remain a truly unique group that is still going strong after more than a decade in the industry.
