In Nov 2001 myself and many others found ourselves in the linkinpark.com chatroom waiting for LPU to officially open so that we may sign up before anyone else. This is because Linkin Park was giving out signed Hybrid Theory Eps to the first 500 who joined the Underground. So what I and the rest of the people did was have a good chat of all the cool things we were looking forward to doing in the Underground. Getting exclusives, talking with the band and getting a fan pack full of awesome goodies. Which 2 of the items that came that year I wanted very badly. First of the two, the cd of course. Linkin Park's EP record, which was when their name was still Hybrid Theory, which is still to this day considered one of peoples most prized possessions. Even if I didn't get a signed copy I would be thrilled to own such a CD. Luckily for me I was one of the 500 and my CD was signed. No one found out until you received your package, so it was a very nice surprise, which then turned to bragging on the forums, lol. The other item which I was looking forward to was the T-Shirt. It was said Mike had designed the T-Shirt himself, so everyone was excited to get it. I know I was. I looked forward to wearing it to my first LP show. Almost like a badge of honor. Showing I was a Undergrounder, a huge fan in support of a band so great and so generous to do so much for their fans. Because that's what the LPU is, a gift from the band to their fans. I think everyone who joined that year felt that way. We all felt a closeness to the band. I think that's why LPU 1.0 is my favorite year of them all. So I really just want to end this with a thank you, to Linkin Park. The LPU has brought me so much over these 10 years and I value every minute of it. Thank you.
