The Meaning behind When They Come For Me.

My lovely friend James asked me today what is the lyrical meaning behind “When They Come For Me.”

It’s definitely top in my favorite songs on A Thousand Suns because of the lyrics. The way that Mike Shinoda raps in this is so personal and heartfelt. You can really tell he means what he’s saying. Which is…

F**** THE HATERS.

Plain and simple. First he talks about what a bada** he is, but we already know that, don’t we? But then he says this line,

“… Because even a blueprint is a gift and a curse. Because once you’ve got a theory of how the thing works, everybody wants the next thing to be just like the first.”

I believe this is where he is talking about how people were saying that Linkin Park isn’t the same anymore, that after Hybrid Theory their music isn’t the same. And how everybody wanted their current sound to sound like Meteora and Hybrid.

Also, that he is not going to give in to those people… because he is not a robot nor a monkey. ;).

The end is pretty simple, STOP TALKING AND TRY TO CATCH UP MOTHERF*****.
