Defeat to Arsenal in the FA Cup replay in midweek brought an end to the Swans’ seven-game unbeaten run in all competitions, but they are still five without loss in the Premier League. Four of those were draws, including the 2-2 tie with Aston Villa in the Liberty’s last league game. Stoke won their midweek replay with Palace after extra time, ending a run of four without win with the last victory the Boxing Day beating of Liverpool at the Britannia. Lost to Chelsea 4-0 last time out with their last away game a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City.

Tony Pulis will be keen to guide Stoke back to winning ways with the team having picked up just one victory from their past seven games. That task will not be easy, however, given Stoke face a Swansea side who have tasted defeat at home just twice all season and are sure to be fresh given many of the players who were rested for Wednesday's 1-0 FA Cup defeat at Arsenal are likely to return for this one. Only one point and one place separates these teams and, for the winner, a Europa League spot should be firmly in sight.

It is a pressure Laudrup knows well from his playing days, the need to deliver silverware – although he did cheekily add that failing to do so wasn’t a problem he encountered very often if at all.

And it is not a pressure Laudrup will feel tonight, Swansea again the underdogs despite winning in North London last month and showing their cup pedigree just last week.

And while the FA Cup is Arsenal’s last chance of a first domestic honour since 2005, it is the first competition most Swans fans would chose to sacrifice this year given the importance of the Premier League and the imminence of a Wembley chance in the Capital One.
